In 2020, Shhh Silk Founder, Olivia Carr, decided to give away a $5000 business start up to one lucky entrepreneur.
Like many other small businesses, when COVID-19 first hit in March last year, we faced the real possibility that Shhh Silk might have to close its doors. Fortunately, our family business was able to pull through thanks to our amazing customers. To show our appreciation, Olivia really wanted to give back to the community and help someone launch the business of their dreams.

We went to social media and asked budding entrepreneurs to send us a short video of who they are, what this fund would mean to them and their amazing business idea. The response was incredible! We heard of some really amazing ideas, including a dog marketplace, at home birthing baths and a speaker for sleeping. Many of you were using the lockdown as a time to help flourish your business ideas which is a great way to make the best out of COVID. We loved hearing your unique stories and the meaning behind your business ideas. We’d like to thank everyone to entered this fund, we were really blown away by your ideas and it was very difficult to select a winner.
There was one entry that really stood out from the rest and it was by co-founders Kat and Nicola with their brand Get Down. Get down is a female brand with a focus on sexual health. They saw a gap in the market where condoms are seen as an industry for men and are not tailored towards women. They created Get Down to empower women to take charge of their sexual health, make contraception more available to them and reignite the discussion of contraception.
We were really inspired by Kat and Nicola’s business idea and hope that the business fund will help to start their amazing business venture. Congratulations to Get Down and thank you to everyone who entered!
