Celebrating Christmas During COVID-19

Celebrating Christmas During COVID-19

2020 has been difficult to say the least, but thankfully Christmas is just around the corner. As excited as we are to celebrate this holiday, we all have to remember that there is still an ongoing pandemic and we need to be safe. Here’s some ways to celebrate Christmas during covid-19 and still stay safe.

Watch A Christmas Movie

Nothing gets you more into the festive spirit than a good old Christmas movie. I love that there are Christmas movies for every genre! Try Christmas Office Party for a Comedy, Love Actually for a romance or Krampus if you’re brave enough for a scary Christmas movie!

If you live in a country where you are permitted to visit each other’s homes, this is a great way to celebrate this holiday while still being able to social distance in the same room.

If you are not yet allowed to have visitors, you can still watch a Christmas movie with your friends using Teleparty. Teleparty synchronises video playback and adds group chat to Netflix, Disney, Hulu and HBO, so you can watch movies together. Download here: https://www.netflixparty.com/

Face Time with Santa

Even Santa is social distancing this year, but you can still make magical memories with him! Santa’s Club lets your children meet Santa in the North Pole via live video! You and your children can chat with Santa and even keep a recording of the video. You can do this all from the comfort of your own home, so no more waiting in long lines at noisy shopping centres.

Shop Online

Buying gifts for my loved ones is one of my favourite things about Christmas, however Christmas shopping looks a bit different this year. Try to avoid shopping centres as much as you can when shopping and instead opt for online shopping instead. Not only will this keep you and others safe, but you can often find more variety and better deals online than instore, and you don’t have wait in long queues!

Decorate Your Home!

We’ve spent a lot of time at home this year so you might as well change the scenery a little bit! Get your ornaments, tinsel and candy canes to turn your home into a magical Christmas Kingdom. I have no doubt that this will lift your mood and get your into the Christmas spirit. There are also heaps of Christmas DIY Decoration and craft activities that you can try to help pass the time indoors.

Go Look At Christmas Lights

There are some amazing people in every neighbourhood who spend hours or even days putting up incredibl lights and displays on their houses for you to enjoy. Take advantage of this free and covid-safe activity by cruising the streets with your family to admire their beautiful work.
